Damon Miller (WG' 96) - Business: DaaX

    • Name: Damon Miller
    • When did you graduate: 1996
    • Overview of current business venture
      • DaaX plans to disrupt the ecommerce & enterprise search market by providing a real-time solution that combines natural language search, LLMs, and knowledge graph technology, and is 100% compatible with open-source search technologies (Apache Solr and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch). Our solution provides superior search and recommendation results.
    • Why did you decide to pursue this business venture?
      • LLMs are one of the most important technological inventions of humankind. They will dramatically affect how we live, work, and create. LLMs are being deployed across a wide range of industries (healthcare, banking & finance, legal) and business functions (marketing & sales, content generation, customer service & support, product development). The time is right, we have the know-how, we have assembled a great team and we have the right product market fit.
    • What has the journey been like?
      • Startups are challenging and exhilarating. Not a linear path to success and it success is not guranteed. Getting funded even after having successful exits is still difficult. Gaining credibility with customers is always a challenge for a startup, but I have done this many times before and the challenge stil excites me.
    • How can alumni support?
      • Three ways: (1) Become early investors or refer us to Angels or early stage VC's who profile for B2B enterprise technology software investments; (2) View our demo and be an advocate for doing a POC (proof of concept) within your company (if it makes sense of course); (3) Provide brutally honest feedback or identify use cases that we have not thought of for our solution.
